Located in Gwinnett County, Georgia, just northeast of Atlanta, the Gwinnett Woodworkers Association (GWA) is a group of amateur and professional woodworkers who meet every Saturday morning to share ideas, improve our woodworking skills, and have fun. Meetings include demonstrations, lectures, hands-on sessions, and seminars teaching how to build furniture, crafts, gift items, and many other types of woodworking projects. |

Porter-Cable Omni Jig - May 10, 2008 |

Omni Jig - May 10, 2008
Cole Dunlay from Porter-Cable gave our class presentation this week and it was enjoyed by all. The demonstration was on the new Porter-Cable Omni-Jig and a few of our members already own one.
Everyone paid close attention as Cole ran through all the capabilities. Cole started with through dovetails and finished showing half-blind dovetails. I'll take license and call this machine a third generation because it's obvious Porter-Cable learned from it's first Dovetail Jig and studied everyone else's to take a seemingly complicated machine and simplify to the max. Once you have it all "tweaked" it looks like you are set to go for the entire job at hand. Remember all machinery has a set-up.
Cole and Perry O'Quinn had a wonderful surprise for us as they set-up a drawing for a Delta 50-850 dust collector. Jim Kunzweiller was the happy winner.
Thank you Porter-Cable, thank you Cole, Perry and our classroom host Kentec Stone Mountain Power Tools. And, congratulations Jim K. on winning the Delta dust collector. Another of the many reasons it pays to belong to the Gwinnett Woodworkers Association.
