We couldn’t have asked for a better day for the GWA picnic. More than 30 members, families, and long‑time friends of the club came out - including a few faces we haven’t seen in a while and some new folks who’ve recently moved to the area and are excited to start joining our meetings.
Rob and the club handled the main spread, and they did not hold back: two beautifully smoked Boston butts, a mountain of burgers, hotdogs, sausages, and even fresh french fries coming out hot. Members rounded things out with a huge variety of sides and desserts - the kind of potluck table where you tell yourself you’ll take "just a little bit" and somehow end up with a full plate (or two!) anyway.
The weather kept us guessing all morning, but it ended up cooperating. We got the whole event in under clear skies, and the light rain didn’t show up until we were already cleaning up - perfect timing.
What really made the afternoon special was the mix of people. Long‑time members catching up, newer members getting welcomed in, and plenty of relaxed conversations that don’t always fit into a Saturday morning meeting. It felt like the club at its best - good food, good company, and a reminder that woodworking is only part of what brings this group together.
Photos from the day, including some show and tell, are shown below so you can relive the highlights (or see what you missed!)
