Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we’ve got a special treat for our turning enthusiasts. On Saturday, February 14, Marcus Jones will take the lathe in a creative direction with a project that blends technique, precision, and a bit of holiday charm: a heart‑shaped bowl with a round inner cavity.
Marcus will demonstrate how he combines two advanced methods -- the bowl‑in‑a‑bowl technique and the square‑bowl technique -- to produce a beautifully sculpted heart‑shaped outer form. The result is a striking bowl or platter that’s perfect as a gift, a display piece, or a new challenge for your turning repertoire.
To keep the focus on the turning process, Marcus will bring a pre‑cut heart‑shaped blank, prepared on the bandsaw. He’ll walk through:
