On April 11, we’re joined by Walt Walters for a hands‑on, practical session focused on two of the most essential shop tools: the band saw and the drill press. Walt will walk us through the fundamentals of setting up each machine properly, using them efficiently, and most importantly, operating them safely.
Although Walt describes the presentation as "pretty basic," anyone who has seen him teach knows that his version of "basic" still includes a wealth of experience, clear demonstrations, and plenty of real‑world tips. He’ll also bring along any specialty jigs, guides, or accessories he has on hand that can make these tools easier and safer to use.
Participants are encouraged to bring in their own favorite add‑ons, sleds, clamps, or safety devices. If you have a clever jig or a go‑to accessory that improves your workflow, this is a great chance to share it with the group.
Whether you’re new to these machines or just want a refresher, this session will help you build confidence and reinforce good habits in the shop.
This presentation will be held at our normal Saturday location:
