GWA Scroll Saw group meetings begin at 6:30 PM and last about two hours. Demonstrations are typically presented by GWA members. Outside demonstrators are welcomed and the group has made several field trips to local and out-of-state scroll saw shops. Each meeting begins with a few minutes of announcements and show-and-tell with the remaining time used for demonstrations. Guests are encouraged and welcome.

February's meeting was the first Scroll Saw Special Interest Group meeting at our new Peachtree Woodworkers Supply location. Based on our success at The Woodworking Show last weekend the Peachtree Woodworkers location was an excellent decision to handle the large crowd of members and visitors. The meeting broke all records of attendance on Monday, February 1, 2010.
Thanks to the combined efforts of our members at the woodworking show, the booking of Judy Gale Roberts' highly anticipated visit in March and a planned program for the February meeting to make spiral candlesticks on the scroll saw, enough interest was created to make the February meeting a big success.
When our members showed a spiral candlestick and candy cane at the woodworking show, no one could believe it was possible to make them on a scroll saw.
We had a total of forty four people attend the February 1 meeting, resulting in several people joining GWA. There was a hand-on demonstration by George North making Spiral Candlesticks and Candy Canes.
Because of the new meeting location and great camera work everyone attending was able to see every phase of the demonstration on the large monitors at the front of the meeting room. Questions were solicited during a slide show presentation for anyone that needed additional information or clarification on any part of the class. At the beginnning of the meeting we had several members show their work during 'Show and Tell'. There was a scrolled cross, several pieces of fretwork and some intarsia. Anyone attending can redily see that Anyone Can Enjoy Scrolling (ACES). There are many different avenues one can take to enjoy scrolling including fretwork, silhoutte portrait cutting, compound cutting, intarsia and segmentation.
