It's "Community Service Tuesday!" 1/6/26
Cane Day is back and ready for 2026!
Every Community Service Tuesday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, members and friends of GWA gather at Rob Austin’s "Day Care Center for Adults" to take part in one of our most meaningful traditions: building Canes for Heroes for our veterans. Come and leave as your schedule allows.
If you’ve seen these canes—or heard the stories behind them - you already know how much they matter. Each one is handmade, start to finish, by volunteers who simply want to give back. Whether you’re a seasoned woodworker or brand new to the shop, there’s a place for you at the table.
There’s always plenty to do: cutting, shaping, drilling, sanding, assembling, and finishing. If you have a knack for spraying finishes, Dave Albin would be thrilled to have an extra set of hands. And if you’re new to woodworking, this is one of the best ways to learn while doing something that genuinely helps someone else. You can see more on the Facebook GWA Page.
Rob cooks lunch for the crew each week, but turnout can vary - so if you plan to join us, please let him know so he can prepare enough food for everyone.
