This class will include a brief explanation of the 4 different types of finishing materials, their relationships to one another involving compatibility, reversibility, viability, durability and appearance. Also, stains and dyes will be completely explained as to their differences and similarities to one another and how they can be incorporated into the finishing process. This along with some time for Q&As of any other information the participants may want to discuss involving staining, finishing, refinishing, restoration and decorative techniques as well.
Alan Noel is the proprietor of A. Ross Noel and Associates and Noel's Woodworks here in Atlanta, Georgia. Alan has been a professional furniture restorer for over 30 years. He has extensive experience with a wide range of finishing products and techniques and regularly teaches a series of classes through an affiliation with Highland Woodworking as well as lecturing throughout the Southeastern United States. Alan also serves as a finishing consultant for various furniture and cabinet manufacturers here in Atlanta and surrounding cities and states. He writes regular columns for Highland Woodworking's Wood News Online, was an associate editor for Professional Refinishing Magazine and Finishing and Restoration Magazine. Alan has also been a contributing editor for 'Homes and Gardens' Wood Magazine and Wood Shop News.
