In class Ricky will begin with demonstrating the process of creating shop made raised panel cabinet doors using a router table and a door bit set designed for the job. Ricky will also share his pain and suffering over the years building these type doors while making just about every mistake humanly possible in that process so maybe you can avoid wasted wood and ugly doors. He will briefly discuss and demonstrate the process of safely adding arched tops to the panels as well to add a little flair to your next door projects. The focus won’t be so much creating a lot of doors in class as much as sharing the skill set needed to produce a quality product using this method.
But what if you really don’t want to invest the money into a dedicated door bit set just for a few shop made simple doors. He will bring in some examples and talk about one alternative method using a router table and bits you probably already have on hand in case you just need a couple of doors and don’t want to invest in a door set. If time allows we will also discuss how to create perfectly acceptable raised panel cabinet doors using only the table saw in case you don’t happen to have a router table in your shop.
This is a pretty ambitious plan for one class but hopefully we can leave with a basic understanding of several ways of creating quality cabinet doors using the tools you have in your shop.
